The contacts module really is just a light version of the UDT - User Defined Table - with a specific purpose - to provide specific information about a company, person or whatever, on the page, using fixed layout options as displayed on the next tab.

The concept of using the Contacts module was simply an elegant and fast way to display information and have it easily updated through the editor.  There are further enhancements to the Contacts Module and all other modules in the future as ongoing projects, but if you require more out of your contacts module, why not consider the UDT (User Defined Table) which has some really great features, in fact, the UDT options and other modules developed around it, are in fact, what I feel the best use of DNN apart from the Text Editor.

You can also get third party addons which are contact managers themselves and are handled differently. DotNetNuke provides a range of options for you to enhance the funcationality of your website.
