Nina's Tonkinese
These are a lovely pet to have! I think anyone would adore them - they are more like a dog than a cat.. a cross between a Siamese and a Burmese, so they are friendly and like your company. They are intelligent, boisterous, tough and naughty. They love ping pong balls, sitting on your shoulder, drinking out of the water fountain, climbing and playing with strapping tape...
We have lots of fun and I never thought an animal could bring so much pleasure to a home, but two of these are a laugh and a half.. They are great for just stopping for a few minutes and talking to and will call you if somewhere in the house...
As soon as I get up and go to another room, they follow - Having two is fun..Tiger loves everyone, Lily loves Andrew, but sleeps next to me at night. They were born in November, 2004 and these pictures were taken around 20th May.
Sadly my beloved little Tiger who was adored by everyone who visited us, because of his radiant and loving personality fell victim to Feline Infectious Peritonitis (I had never heard of this disease until he was diagnosed with it) It took all of four weeks from him being diagnosed to having to be put down to stop him suffering. I was saddened immensely and it broke my heart as he was just one year old. But he was here for a good time and not a long time and left a legacy of love and fun with all who visited our home and participated in his antics of climbing on shoulders and sitting around necks, purring and happy, and, an avid ping pong ball chaser - being able to leap to kitchen bench height and more to catch that elusive ping pong ball.
When he died, he left a void with Lily - who had never been alone since birth and we had to consider her and find a friend for her as soon as possible. She was very upset, so we got another kitten very soon after - a blue point Tonkinese. And her name is LuLu and we love her. She's taken a while to settle in, and was just 1kg when we got her. A little thing with a lively jump, almost like a flying fox over the furniture. And the most beautiful face we've ever seen on a cat.
Lily has accepted LuLu and inspite of LuLu driving Lily mad with her consistent antics, they are good friends.
We love our animals, they are our friends in our family and bring alot of pleasure and have certain personality characteristic I didn't ever notice until we had them living with us, and have the utmost respect for those people who I thought were simply pet fanatics. Whether it's a cat or a dog, bringing them into your home and making them part of your family, is in fact another family member. Not just an animal.
